As usual after my evening walk I was sitting down to relax for a while. A neighbor was talking about water shortage in our building. My phone rang, my elder son was calling me to reach at Inorbit mall junction at earliest.
It took me about 15 mins to reach at that junction, I started hazard light on my car and followed the extreme left of the road searching for my son, at the traffic signal there was crowd in the corner and I saw my son, his head was bleeding, daughter in law was crying and sitting on a stone.
A tall guy came ahead and said to me "uncle try to to teach your son about driving the motorbike and taking care of his wife, he crossed the red signal."
I kept my cool and asked "what is your name, who is the driver and where are both vehicles caused this bloody accident?"
The tall man gave his name as Satish and he was driving a small car Maruti 800. I tried to find out how the accident happened, the onlookers helped me to know the facts as shown in this map.
The front fork and head lamp assembly of our motorbike were badly damaged. The front grill, radiator and the bumper of that Maruti 800 was damaged.
That car was parked 50 meter away from the accident place in such way to show his innocence and the rider of the bike made that accident, tall guy Satish was proving his expertise in getting away from the accident blames, crimes and avoid payment for damages to the victims. He called the traffic police, it so happened that the police knew him very well. But surprisingly that police shown mistake was of Satish and blamed him for that accident. The police asked us to come to office to report legal complaint of that accident.
The procedure for police is to chalk mark the vehicle on the road and draw the diagram of the accident as per on the spot inquiries from others on paper as his observation of the accident. I never saw in any accident a policeman following such such procedures.
Because of previous experience in an accident case I refused to go to police station. For an accident case my son had helped a rider and took him to hospital. That hospital had logged the accident with all the details about my son and the rider, on duty doctor had said nothing serious, the rider had left the hospital on his bike. But next day police took my son as culprit and asked him to pay Rs. 18,000/- as damages to the rider. The police shown almost 4 hours difference of the time of accident along with two witnesses to that accident and stated that my son had ran away from the accident. The hospital log proved that my son had helped the rider and the right time of accident. Yet to cancel the case against my son police made us pay Rs 2,000/- as settlement charges for that case.
Anyway back to this accident. I asked Satish to help us and take us to nearest trauma centre for immediate medical attention for my son and his wife. First he was reluctant, but he agreed and came with us to a nearest trauma centre. On duty doctor gave the needed help and kept both the victims for 24 hours observation in a tiny room.
Next day morning a policeman from some other area came to get the statement about the accident. My son's father in law was present in the hospital, the policeman took only the statement of the daughter in law, stating how the accident occurred, she signed the statement. Then the policeman done a horrible act, added few words in that signed statement stating that “my husband was without helmet and tried to kill me in this accident.” Her father saw that writing and objected, policeman took him out of that room in a corner and told " this way you can get 20,000 Rs as compensation, we will split in half ". God save the people of India from such authorities !!!!!!!
My son understood what was going on, he called Satish to solve this, he came and telephoned the authorities of the area, yet he had to pay 500 Rs. to that policeman to tare that signed statement.
Next day doctor gave the discharge to my son and his wife. As a precaution doctor asked us to take the MRI of skull of my son, he had bad injuries on the left part where doctor had stapled the wound, what a job ???????
Satish paid the hospital bill and refused to pay the medicine and MRI charges. He kept on saying that my son has caused the accident and on humanitarian grounds he paid the hospital bill.
What I learned is, if I do not know any political or local authority connection in that area then every accident is caused by me and I am at fault, I have to bare all the expenses. God save the such innocent victims !!!!!!!!!!!
